“As we keep gas flowing to homes, hospitals and businesses, we’re as committed to protecting our colleagues and communities from the coronavirus now, as we were at the start of the outbreak.

I’m writing to you to make you aware of our project to upgrade our gas network in the Slateford Road/Robertson Avenue, area of Edinburgh. This project involves us replacing our existing gas mains with new plastic pipe.

Our essential work will ensure the local community receives a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come. We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance.

We’re looking to start work in the Slateford Road/Robertson Avenue, area of Edinburgh on Tuesday the 5 January 2021 and will last approximately 9 weeks.

During this project it will be necessary to suspend on street parking throughout our works. As our project will be carried out on a phased basis not all parking will be affected at once.

To ensure everyone’s safety, and to help carry out these essential works the following roads will be closed throughout this project, a local diversion route will in operation for those affected by the closure of Robertson Avenue.

– Hermand Crescent between 9.00am & 4.00pm (emergency vehicles will always have access)
– Hermand Street between 9.00am & 4.00pm (emergency vehicles will always have access)
– Hermand Terrace between 9.00am & 4.00pm (emergency vehicles will always have access)
– Robertson Avenue (south bound only)

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

We wish to assure you that work will progress as quickly as possible and we’ll be doing everything we can to limit delays and disruption during our project.

We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website:

We’ve written to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
