Get Involved!

Anyone resident in Gorgie/Dalry and over the age of sixteen can stand to be elected as a member: elections to the community are held every September, and representatives are elected for a period of four years. Residents can also be co-opted to the community council at other times of the year if a majority of members approve the co-option. All GDCC Community Councillors are volunteers.

Office bearers on the Community Council include Chair, Vice-Chair, Community Engagement, Secretary, Communications Officer, Planning Officer, and Treasurer. If you are interested in standing for election, please take part in one of our monthly public meetings and talk to one of the Community Councillors. We also have representatives from GDS Church – if other community groups wish to be represented on GDCC please contact us.

Some of our Community Councillors have been community activists in Gorgie/Dalry for decades; others have recently moved to the area. However, all GDCC members are passionate about making Gorgie/Dalry a better place to live.

If you would like to get involved, or find out more about what being a Community Councillor involves, please get in touch with us.
