Accessibility

This is a accessibility statement for the Gorgie Dalry Community Council (GDCC) website. This accessibility statement applies to the website domains [https://gorgiedalrycc.org] & [https://gorgiedalrycc.org.uk].

This website is run by community councilors of GDCC. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Have the text not reflow in to a single column when you change the size of the browser window.
  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen.
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard.

We hope that we have made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible or we have been unable to test their suitability:

  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software (Untested)
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver) (Untested)
  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software

We welcome residents or any website users contacting us for any support they require or to make suggestions on making the website more accessible.

We’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible. We hope to get back within one week, however, any complaints can be brought up during our public meetings for direct comment.

Enforcement procedure

All complaints will follow the City of Edinburgh Council’s Community Council’s Complaints Process. Available here: https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/file/26875/community-councillor-complaints-procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Gorgie Dalry Community Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is currently not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. All pages are exempt as it’d be a disproportionate burden for GDCC to make it fully accessible.

We hope once we have access to greater tools and knowledgeable volunteers we can use our website builder (WordPress) that we will be able to meet the full requirements.

We will seek to review further areas where we need improvement in future.
