ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS TO NEW COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Cllr Denis Dixon welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the new Community Council . He stated as returning officer for the elections there were now 9 elected members, 2 over the minimum required. The local churches’ forms were received, minutes would require to show that they are co-opted on by the members. There is also a need to elect Office Bearers. This will now go ahead.

Parks: Friends of Westfield Park
Lets have been paid £90. It was agreed to donate £100 to FoWP to assist with payment of their insurance.
Balance at present £1590.37
Not too many problems in the area, Westfield House had damage done by youths this has been resolved with the installation of steel shutters.
No hate crimes but the number of housebreakings have increased. Theft and vandalism have also increased, A few tenancy problems have also been resolved with cooperation of the police and housing associations, in some cases steel doors have been used to secure properties
A few businesses have had problems; one in Angle Park Terrace suffered a robbery.
Four road offences, mainly no road tax.
Parking in Dalry Place is being addressed, as this is a no parking area.
Russell Rd industrial estate has people camping there. They have been advised to move on.
PC Baillie was asked about recent accident on Dalry Rd no info at present ongoing enquiries.
LB asked about youths in at Westfield Park, and was advised to keep calling. McDonalds also have this problem and they now have security staff on the door in the evenings
Double parking in Orwell Terrace by Domino pizza delivery cars is causing congestion in the street again, will be checked.
PC thanked for a very good report it is hoped to have regular police reports in the future
DD has been involved with CC’S
Hearts application is due for consideration. Groups have been shown round. AA and SW both visited the nursery – requirements appear to have been addressed
Work on the new stand is expected to COMMENCE in NOVEMBER

B in the Park at Westfield on 17th Sept was a great success with the public showing interest in volunteering. A questionnaire was handed out and the comments on these will be considered. More events are to be planned. McDonalds have been very supportive as have other businesses in the area: Poundstretchers donating T shirts; others supplying raffle prizes.
There has been a lot more interest in the park since the grass has been cut and people are cleaning it up
Craig Dunlop [CEC] has had volunteers assisting with the general tidy up. Laura is looking at the prospect of sponsorship
SMILES group have also scheduled a meeting to discuss further plans.
Smiles meeting planned for 19TH OCT has been cancelled
Web site is now up and running ET set it up payment for this is due the fee is £26 per year. ET will be reimbursed.

Gerry Farrell mentioned GDCC in his Evening News column and Hearts involvement and also the assistance McDonalds have been giving to projects in the area.
XMAS lights in GDCC it was decided the date for the switch on would be 11th DECEMBER contact will be made with The City OF Edinburgh and Lions International. The possibility of moving the event to a different venue next year was discussed.
